Racers Conduct Spring Workout In Extreme Weather

The Murray State football team held a spring workout in the cold and rain Tuesday at Roy Stewart Stadium in Murray, Ky.
The Racers had to compete in this kind of weather on occasion in 2009, so instead of looking at it in a bad way, the Racers went out on the wet turf and had another spirited practice.
“We really didn't want to go out, but we're so limited in our days, however I didn't expect it to get as cold as it was and then have the downpour that we had,” MSU Head Coach Chris Hatcher said. “We had some good technique work today but it was hard to grip the ball.”
The Racers went through position work then came together for some skeleton play between the offense and defense.
“I tell our guys, the ones who're the most fired up to play are the ones who usually win the most games,” Hatcher added. “So far we've been very good at that and hopefully that will continue.”
The week's workouts for today, Thursday and Friday again lead into the Saturday session that will include even more scrimmage time than the team had last Saturday.
Thursday and Friday's practices begin at 3:20 p.m. at Stewart Stadium with the Saturday workout starting at 9 a.m. All fans are encouraged to come out and watch.
