For the first time since the end of the 2002 season, Murray State cracked the national rankings as the Racers are ranked 24th in this weeks The Sports Network/Fathead.com FCS Top 25 poll. MSU is also ranked 27th in the FCS Coaches poll.
The Racers (2-1) have been receiving votes all season, but cracked the poll after a convincing 58-27 victory over Tennessee State Saturday evening at Stewart Stadium. The last time the Racers appeared in the national polls was at the conclusion of the 2002 season, the last time MSU won the OVC championship.
The Racers will play their first game as a nationally ranked team Thursday evening as they travel to face UT Martin. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at Graham Stadium.
