Game Notes (.pdf)
The Murray State soccer team returns home for the first time in three matches on Friday afternoon as they face conference newcomer Belmont in a 3 p.m. kickoff from Cutchin Field.
The Racers (3-7, 1-2 OVC) are coming off of back-to-back OVC losses on the road last weekend to Southeast Missouri and UT Martin. Veronika Pribyslavska netted her sixth goal of the season in the loss to Martin. Pribyslavska's six goals rank her second in the league in goals scored.
MSU is facing Belmont for the first time since a 2-1 loss in 2008 at Cutchin Field. Current graduate assistant Tara Isbell record two saves in that contest in goal for the Racers. The Bruins come into the contest with a 4-5-1 record overall and are looking for their first OVC victory (0-1-1).
Belmont has faced three common opponents of the Racers this season. The Bruins hold wins over Alabama A&M and Evansville, as well as a loss to Middle Tennessee. The Racers also defeated Alabama A&M and lost earlier this season to Evansville and Middle Tennessee (exhibition).
Five of the Racers' final seven games will be played at home, including their last four. That will be crucial, because as of now there is a five-way tie in the conference for the sixth and final spot to make the OVC Tournament. Eastern Illinois, SIU Edwardsville and Tennessee Tech remain on Murray State's schedule. The Racers already own a victory over Austin Peay.
