Football Holds Second Workout in Helmets

The Murray State football team went through its second practice in helmets Sunday afternoon on the turf at Stewart Stadium. The Racers will put the pads on the for the first time on Tuesday afternoon, before holding their first full pad practice on Thursday.
“After our first two days of spring ball, I feel we took up where we left off last season,” said head coach Chris Hatcher. “We have a lot of continuity, especially on the offensive side of the ball and the back end of the defense, and it really showed. We played fast and moved from drill to drill fast. We had some good competition, especially at the end of practice, and actually had a few guys getting a little feisty.”
“I am real pleased with our progress through the offseason. It has shown through the last two practices However, we will really find out what we are made of these next couple days when we put on the pads.”
The Racers will hold two more practices this week before taking off for Spring Break. MSU will practice at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, and then hold its first full-pad practice Thursday at 3:30 p.m. All practices are open to the public.
