Softball Drops Rubber Match 6-0 Against Jacksonville State

Murray State softball dropped the final game of a three-game set Sunday afternoon, falling 6-0 against Jacksonville State at Racer Field in Murray, Ky.

The Gamecocks broke a scoreless tie in the top of the third, scoring five runs in the inning. After Jessica Guy hit a soft infield single to second with the bases loaded to score one, Kelci Johnson cleared the bases with one swing, homering to center field to give JSU a five run lead.

Jacksonville State (10-15, 5-1 OVC) added one more in the fifth as Hayden Crawford was able to score from first on a throwing error.

MSU (9-6, 4-2) was able to put just one runner on base as Meghan Sims drew a leadoff walk in the sixth inning.

Tiffany Harbin earned the complete game no hitter for JSU, striking out three and walking one as she faced just one more than the minimum number of batters in picking up her fourth win of the season.

Shelby Kosmecki took the loss for Murray State, giving up three runs on five hits and three walks in 2.1 innings.

The Racers hit the road to open the coming week, traveling to Arkansas for games against the University of Arkansas Tuesday and Arkansas Pine Bluff Wednesday.
