TUESDAY RECAP
Murray State softball found its offense Tuesday afternoon, defeating Middle Tennessee State twice on the day 5-2 and 10-5.
Leslie Bridges hit a grand slam in the bottom of the sixth in the opening game, her third home run of the season to break a 1-1 tie. Casey Castile went yard twice in game two, hitting a three-run blast in the bottom of the third and a two-run shot in the sixth inning.
SCOUTING SIU EDWARDSVILLE
The Racers and Cougars will each be looking to complete the series win Thursday afternoon after the teams split a midweek doubleheader a week ago at Racer Field.
The Cougars scored their only two runs of the opener on a home run from Alex McDavid, coming back from trailing 1-0 to take game one 2-1.
The Racers responded in game two, piling on the offense with 11 runs in an 11-0 shutout in five innings.
Megan Glosser, Mo Ramsey and Casey Castile, the Racers 2-3-4 hitters, each scored three times in the game, while Castile and Ramsey each had two hits and Castile drove in three runs.
Chelsey Sullivan earned the shutout win, tossing five innings without allowing a run as she gave up just three hits while walking none.
SIUE currently sits in a tie with Tennessee Tech for the sixth and final spot into the OVC Championships with an 8-8 record in conference play. The Cougars swept Morehead State this past weekend, winning the first two games 8-7 and taking the third game of the weekend 6-4.
