Racer Football Has Final Practice Before Blue-Gold Bowl

The Murray State football team held its final practice of spring workouts Friday at Roy Stewart Stadium before they play the finale of the spring season with the annual Blue-Gold Bowl on Saturday at 6 p.m..
Head Coach Chris Hatcher and the team held a spirited session on the turf and afterwards it was evident that the team will be excited to put on the pads.
“This will be the last time you get to play football until August when we come back for camp,” Hatcher said as he addressed the team after practice. “We want you to have fun and be excited to play.”
There is no admission charge for the game and all Racer fans are invited to come out and see the team perform.
A free kids clinic will start at 4 p.m. on the Stewart Stadium. The clinic will feature several stations manned by MSU players where children will get to run, throw and kick and have a great time. Fans can also get some autographs before the 6 p.m. start of the scrimmage.
The Blue-Gold Bowl will match the first-team offense/defense and the second-team offense/defense. The offense will wear white jerseys and will be the gold team.
As with any scrimmage, there are slight differences in the way the game will be played. Quarterbacks and some other players wearing red jerseys are off limits and won't be tackled. Special teams will see adjusted action as well. There will be punts and kickoffs but no returns. If there is a turnover, the ball is live and the play goes to the whistle.
Officials will be on the field which will give the evening a game feel.
