The Murray State football team went through their final spring drills Friday afternoon at Roy Stewart Stadium in Murray, Ky., before having some time off for the Easter weekend.
The highlight of the Friday workout was a scrimmage that saw the defense get the best of the offense.
Starting at the offense's 35-yard line, quarterback Parks Frazier moved the squad down the field and eventually hit Dontel Watkins on a nine-yard scoring pass.
The Racer defense rose to the occasion and proceeded to stop the offense on the next seven possessions. The defense scored a touchdown when Corey Addison made a big hit close to the sideline and jarred the ball loose. Brandon Wicks scooped up the pigskin and scored from 36 yards out.
The MSU defense was very good against the run over the next several possessions and recorded two sacks and three tackles for loss.
Starting quarterback Casey Brockman made his return to workouts this week after being ill over the last week. The senior threw a four-yard touchdown pass to Walter Powell on the final drive of the scrimmage.
The Racers come back next week and have their final workouts before hosting the annual Blue-Gold Bowl at Roy Stewart Stadium on April 14th. The scrimmage will end the Racers' 2012 spring workouts.
