Murray State women's basketball coach Rob Cross announced the signing of 6-4 center Netanya Jackson of Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Jackson will join the Racers in the fall as a junior after spending the last two seasons in the basketball program at Barton Community College in Great Bend, Kan.
"Netanya is a good student and person of high character,” Cross said. “We're excited to add her to our 2012 recruiting class and feel Netanya will help provide a physical presence in the paint for the Racers.”
Jackson comes from BCCC where she played in 28 games in the 2011-12 season and scored 10 points, hauled in six rebounds and blocked two shots per game. She led her team the last two seasons in field goal and three-point percentage. As a sophomore, she was a 49 percent shooter from the field and 50 percent from three-point range. As a freshman, Jackson scored 12 points, grabbed seven rebounds and blocked 2.25 shots per game.
Playing at Blackman High School in Murfreesboro in 2009, Jackson was named among the top seniors in Tennessee.

“Netanya really helped our program at Barton and got us to runner up in our conference,” Coach Keith Furguson said. “She's a game changer because she's going to do some things that will make it hard for opponents to guard her. She sees the floor very well for a kid that is 6-4 and she is a very unselfish player.”
“Netanya has a high basketball IQ to go along with great, soft hands and nimble feet for someone of her height,” Cross added. “She has a chance to provide a match-up problem for the opposition as she brings a very good skill set to go along with her imposing stature. Netanya is capable of stepping out and knocking down a three point shot and scoring in a variety of ways around the basket."
Jackson joins Kelsey Dirks (Robinson, Ill.), Alyssa Like (Poseyville, Ind.), Erika Sisk (Oxford, Miss.) and Christy Soldo (Hopkinsville, Ky.) as part of the Racers' 2012 recruiting class.
