2012 CFPA Linebacker Award Watch List
Murray State junior linebacker Qua Huzzie was selected to the 2012 College Football Performance Awards FCS Linebacker Award Watch List on Monday. Huzzie becomes the third Racer to be named to the watch list at their respected position, joining quarterback Casey Brockman and defensive lineman Kevin Robinson.
Huzzie (LaGrange, Ga.) made an immediate impact in his first season as a Racer as he recorded an Ohio Valley Conference-best 14 tackles-for-loss. In 10 games, Huzzie registered 80 tackles, 48 solo, three sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and four pass break-ups.
He greeted the home fans with three tackles-for-loss and a sack in the home opener against Tennessee State. He followed it up with 10 tackles against UT Martin, before posting a season-high 15 tackles against Jacksonville State. Huzzie's best game of the season came against Eastern Kentucky as he had 13 tackles, four tackles-for-loss, two sacks and forced a pair of fumbles. The second forced fumble was recovered in the end zone for a Racer touchdown.
Huzzie found the endzone for himself against Austin Peay as he scooped up a fumble on the opening possession of the game and raced 24 yards for the touchdown. He closed out the season with 11 tackles in the victory over Southeast Missouri.
