Lindy’s Tabs Brockman Preseason First-Team All-American

The preseason accolades are beginning for Murray State quarterback Casey Brockman as the senior was named a First-Team All-American by Lindy's Magazine. Also, the publication ranked the Racers 18th in its preseason poll.
Following the 2011 season, Brockman (Murray, Ky.) was honored as a Third-Team All-American by The Sports Network and Associated Press, while also finishing 11th in the voting for the Walter Payton Award.
Brockman enters his final season as a Racer poised to become the school's all-time leader in attempts, completions, touchdowns and total offense. He re-wrote the record books in 2011 by going 316-for-477 for 3,276 yards and 25 touchdowns. He added 211 yards and four touchdowns on the ground, while also catching a pair of touchdown passes.
He set MSU and OVC single-game records for completions (45) and yards (600), while also tieing his own record with seven touchdown passes in a victory over Tennessee State. Brockman closed out his junior season by throwing for a pair of touchdowns, rushing for one and adding a receiving touchdown in the victory over Southeast Missouri.
Brockman set new single-season MSU and OVC records for attempts, completions and total offense (3,487).
The Racers open the 2012 season Sept. 1 at Florida State. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN3.
