Wednesday Practice Ends Without a Winner

Murray State head football coach Chris Hatcher ends every practice in which the team scrimmages by declaring a winner. On Wednesday afternoon, Hatcher found himself awarding a tied.
“There was just no energy today,” said Hatcher. “I don't think either side cared if they won, so I had no choice but to call it a tie.”
The defense got the first big play during the scrimmage as cornerback Josh Manning stripped running back Duane Brady near the sideline. Brady and offense responded a couple plays later as Brady took a short pass from Casey Brockman and found his way into the endzone.
The offense continued with big plays as Dontel Watkins took a pass over the middle and outran the defense for a 40-yard touchdown.
Linebacker made the second big play for the defense by getting into the backfield and forcing a fumble that was recovered by Ayo Ojolola. A few plays later, Jordan Morrow made up for his fumble by catching a swing pass and turning it into a long touchdown.
The Racers put together one final drive as Walter Powell got a long pass to cross midfield, and then hauled in a 30-yard touchdown.
The scrimmage didn't end as well for the offense as a bad snap and a fumble helped the defense even the practice.
The Racers return to the field tomorrow for a pair of practices. They will take the field for their first practice at 8 a.m., and then return at 6:30 p.m. for the second practice.
