Racers Hold Second Practice in Helmets

The Murray State football team held its second practice in helmets Saturday morning at Stewart Stadium. After going through the first half of practice under cloudy skies, the skies opened up and much-needed rain fell over the final portion of practice.
“I thought we improved from day one to day two,” said head coach Chris Hatcher. “We still have some schematic things to work on, but I have really been pleased with how the new guys picked up the way we practice and the two-day install. We haven't put on the equipment yet, but all in all, the tempo has been good and our enthusiasm has been good. We have had high energy, and I think some of that is attributed to having two really good days of weather.”
The Racers continued to install their offense and defense as they begin to get players in the right positions leading up to the opener at Florida State on Sept. 1.
The Racers return to the field Sunday morning at 9 a.m. for their first practice in pads.
