The Murray State soccer team will host its final two non-conference games of the season in a weekend doubleheader at Cutchin Field.
The Racers will face Alabama A&M on Friday afternoon at 3 and South Alabama at 1 p.m. on Sunday. MSU has had good success against both teams in the past, the Racer are 5-0-1 all-time against Alabama A&M, including a 6-0 victory last season. Julie Mooney had a pair of goals in the win over the Bulldogs in 2011 while Shauna Wicker recorded a hat trick in the contest. The Racers are 7-0-1 all-time against opponents from the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
The Bulldogs are 0-7 this season and have losses against Middle Tennessee State and OVC opponent Jacksonville State.
Murray State's lone match against South Alabama came in a 2-1 overtime victory back in 2005 at the UT Martin tournament. The Racers are 11-14-1 all-time against the Sun Belt Conference. The Jaguars are 4-3-1 in 2012 and have not yet faced any of the Racers' common opponents. USA will face Austin Peay on Friday afternoon.
The Racers are coming off a strong offensive showing in their last match against Northern Kentucky. MSU tallied season-highs in shots (24), shots on goal (6) and goals scored (2) in its 2-1 loss to the Norse. Freshman Megg Hudson (Murray, Ky.) recorded her first career goal in the game and Jenna Finke (Indianapolis, Ind.) netted her team-high second goal of the season.
This will be the last chance fans will have to watch their Racers play at home until Oct. 5 when they will host Belmont as Murray State will begin its conference slate with three straight road games.
