The Murray State soccer team will kick off its Ohio Valley Conference slate on Sunday afternoon as the Racers will travel to Clarksville, Tenn., for a showdown with Austin Peay at 2 p.m.
The Racers (2-5) enter the game on a two-game winning streak as they swept the state of Alabama last weekend, defeating Alabama A&M 5-0 and South Alabama 1-0 in OT. Veronika Pribyslavska recorded just the 9th hat trick in school history in the Racers' win over A&M. Pribyslavska, along with teammates Halle Pinkham and Latesha Stevenson were named the OVC Players of the Week as MSU swept the award this week.
MSU's win over South Alabama came in thrilling fashion as Taylor Stevens netted a goal with just 1.3 seconds remaining in the first overtime. Stevens was named the College Sports Madness' OVC Player of the Week for her performance against the Jaguars.
Austin Peay will head into Sunday's match with a 4-5 record. The Governors defeated Alabama A&M 6-1 and lost to South Alabama 1-0 in double overtime. The Racers own the all-time series lead at 7-4-1. APSU won last season's matchup in Murray 2-1. Julie Mooney netted the lone goal for the Racers in the loss, Jenelle Cunningham assisted on the goal.
Murray State Head Coach Beth Acreman is 4-1-1 all-time against Austin Peay and holds a record of 27-16-8 in OVC play while at MSU.
