The Racer soccer team hits the road for a pair of conference tilts this weekend as they travel to face Southeast Missouri on Friday night in a 6:30 kickoff and will face UT Martin at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Murray State (3-5, 1-0 OVC) has recorded three consecutive shutouts and has not allowed an opponent to score in over 295 minutes of play. The Racers are coming off an OVC-opening win over Austin Peay on Sunday. Veronika Pribyslavska recorded her fifth goal of the season in the victory and second game-winning goal this year. Heading into the weekend Pribyslavska is tied for second in the league in goals scored.
Freshman defender Halle Pinkham was named the OVC Defensive Player of the Week for the second straight week. Goalkeeper Latesha Stevenson has recorded seven and six saves, respectively in the last two games.
Southeast Missouri comes into the contest with a 1-6-3 record including a 2-2 draw with UT Martin on Tuesday. The Redhawks also played Evansville to a scoreless draw this year. Evansville beat the Racers earlier in the season 2-0. MSU is 6-8 all-time against SEMO, including a 3-0 loss last season in Cape Girardeau, Mo. The Racers are looking for their first win against Southeast Missouri since 2009 and first victory in Cape Girardeau since 2008.
UT Martin is 3-4-3 on the season and has also played just the one OVC game. The Racers are 9-2-3 against the Skyhawks all-time. The two played to a 2-2 split last season in Murray. Jill Russell recorded a goal and an assist in the contest, while Shauna Wicker scored the second goal for MSU.
Head coach Beth Acreman has not lost in her career against UT Martin, carrying a 4-0-2 record against the Skyhawks.
