The Racer soccer team returns to the friendly confines of Cutchin Field on Sunday afternoon for Murray State's lone soccer match of the week as the Racers face Northern Kentucky at 1 p.m.
MSU (0-4) is meeting the Norse for the first time in program history. NKU comes into the match with a 1-4 record, its lone win was a 2-0 victory over Canisius. The Norse lost 2-1 to Indiana State, the same margin as Murray State's loss to the Sycamores, and Tennessee Tech 3-2.
Jenna Finke recorded her first career goal and also the Racers' first goal of the season in Murray State's 4-1 loss against Western Michigan. Against Indiana State two days later, the Racers led for nearly 70 minutes of the match before falling to the Sycamores.
Senior captain Jenelle Cunningham returned from injury for her first two games of the season last weekend. Junior midfielder Jill Russell also saw action for the first time last week after returning from injury.
The Racers are 6-0-1 all-time against the Atlantic Sun Conference. The game on Sunday marks the beginning of a three-game homestand for the Racers who are playing their final three non-conference games of the season.
