Van Meter Goes Low As Racers Finish At Old Waverly

The Murray State women's golf team finished in ninth place at the Old Waverly Bulldog Invitational. The invitational was held in Starkville, Miss., at Old Waverly Golf Club.
Senior, Delaney Howson led the Racers with scores of 73-76-73=222 for 20th place in a field of 60 competitors.
After an impressive third round, Jackie Van Meter had the next best score for the Racers after carding 81-81-69=231 for 41st place.  Close behind were freshmen Minta Yin in 45th place with scores of 75-79-80=234 and Sydney Trimble in 47th place with scores of 78-77-81=236. Rounding out the field for the Racers was Sophie Hillier who carded scores of 82-81-80=243 for 56th place.
Host school and tournament winner Mississippi State finished the third round 20-under-par for an overall score of 844. With a score of 865, East Carolina took second place while Georgia State took third with a score of 876.
Other school scores include Florida International (884), East Tennessee State (889), South Alabama (899), Cincinnati (901), South Florida (911), Memphis (927) and Southern Miss (951).
Mississippi State's Ally McDonald won the tournament after rounds of 67-73-67=207.
Old Waverly played to a par of 72 and 6,113 yards.
The Racers will enjoy a well-deserved break until Oct. 14-15 where they will travel to the Austin Peay Intercollegiate at Clarksville Country Club in Clarksville, Tenn.Â
