Kirby & Lee Earn adidas® OVC Honors

A pair of Murray State women's basketball players have been honored by the Ohio Valley Conference for their performance in games played Nov. 26-Dec. 2. Keiona Kirby won her first adidas® OVC Player of the Week honor, while Jashae Lee won the adidas® Newcomer of the Week for the third time this season.
Kirby helped lead the Racers to two big wins last week by averaging 25.5 points and 5.5 rebounds. The Jackson, Tenn., native started last week with 22 points against Kennesaw State Tuesday, then poured in a career-high 29 points at Lipscomb Saturday. She turned in an astounding 51.6 field goal percentage on the week, going 16-for-31 from the floor. In addition to a career-high eight rebounds Saturday, she also added five assists and four steals over the two-game stretch.
Lee also had a big week averaging 9.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. On Saturday at Lispscomb, she tied her career-high by scoring 12 points while also pulling down eight of her 11 rebounds on the week. The Rialto, Calif., native was also highly accurate over the two-game span, as she went 8-for-18 from the floor for 44.4 percent.
Kirby, Lee and the rest of the Racers will look to keep their three-game win streak alive Wednesday when they travel to Cincinnati to take on Xavier at 6 p.m. CDT.
