Racer Classic Golf Scramble Planned For October
5/29/2013 12:25:00 PM | Racer Club
“While the tournament has been played in June in recent years,” MSU Associate Athletic Director Paul Bubb said, “This year is the 25th anniversary of the Racer Classic and we want to make it something special.”
“Miller Golf Course is also undergoing some changes with their greens and the new greens will be open this fall, which makes it all the more exciting. We believe having the Racer Classic in the fall, on the Friday of a home football weekend; will allow us the best opportunity for an outstanding event.”
The Racers' football team will host Tennessee Tech at Roy Stewart Stadium at 3 p.m. (Oct. 5).
The format for the Racer Classic will remain as a four-man scramble with a number of contest holes for special prizes throughout the course, including a Hole-in-One contest for cash and prizes. Other special contests include the traditional long drive, closest-to-the-pin and most accurate drive. Additional prize opportunities for contestants will also be part of the fun of the Racer Classic.
The Racer Classic will have a 1 p.m. shot gun start with lunch being served before starting at noon.
Registration materials will be printed and mailed in August and fans will be able to sign up on-line at that time as well.
Questions or request for registration materials should be directed to Paul Bubb, 217 Stewart Stadium, Murray State University Athletics, Murray, KY 42071. His office number is (270) 809-3369.
