Murray State's Delaney Howson led the Racers to a sixth place finish after she achieved a fourth place finish overall at the Cardinal Cup in Simpsonville, Ky. at the Cardinal Club Golf Course.
The Racers scored rounds of 303-300-304=907 finishing behind Louisville (859), Kansas (881), Louisville B (893), Chattanooga (901) and Middle Tennessee (905). Â
Howson carded scores of 70-74-73=217, only five strokes behind overall champion, Louisville's Laura Restrepo (212). Emily Haas of Louisville and Kansas' Yupaporn Kawinpakorn tied for second place (213).
Tying for 16th place out of 75 players in the field, Minta Yin had the second best finish for the Racers carding scores of 73-74-78=225. Sydney Trimble and Jackie Van Meter tied for 44th place with scores of 80-74-81=235 and 80-78-77-235 respectively. Rounding out the team scores for Murray State was Sophie Hillier who carded scores of 85-83-76=244 for a 59th place finish.
In individual play, Gina Nuzzo finished in 70th place with scores of 87-80-85=252.
Rounding out the field in team play was Cincinnati (914), Memphis (919), Illinois State (920), South Florida (927), Ball State (934), Marshall (972) and Northern Kentucky (973).
The Cardinal Club Golf Course played to a par of 72 and 6,150 yards on day one and 6,049 yards on day two.
The Racers will enjoy a short break before competing in the Old Waverly Bulldog Invitational on Sept. 30 at the Old Waverly Gold Club in West Point, Ms. Â
