25th Annual Racer Classic Golf Scramble Set For Oct. 4

The 25th annual Racer Classic Golf Tournament will be held Friday, Oct. 4 at Miller Memorial Golf Course in Murray, Ky.
The annual event raises money for Murray State Athletics and over the years has raised thousands of dollars in support and created a bond between MSU's coaches and staff and the great Racer fans that have participated. The Racer Classic has long been a favorite of Murray State fans and fans of golf. The proceeds from this event provide funding for the ever increasing demands on the Racers' NCAA Division-I athletics program.
The Racer Classic also gives golfers the opportunity to experience the new greens at Miller Memorial that were built this summer.
The tournament features a four-man scramble format with team prizes awarded for first, second and third place as well as open division, women's division, low gross and blind draw. There are prizes for longest drive, most accurate drive and closest to the hole.
"We're very excited about this year's Racer Classic," said Paul Bubb, Associate Athletic Director. "We moved the event to the fall so that we could enjoy the new greens at Miller. This is a great opportunity to enjoy a day of golf, and help raise funds for the Murray State athletic department."
The event begins with registration and lunch starting at 11:30 a.m. with a putting contest to start at noon. The golf begins at 1 p.m. with a shotgun start. When play is finished, there is a post-tournament social at the course with a raffle drawing and presentation of awards.
Entry fees range from $75 for an individual to an all-inclusive corporate or family package for $650. Extras include the official 25th anniversary golf towel and hat, Murray State Athletics polo and a dozen Titleist ProV golf balls. Hole sponsorships are also available.
