The Murray State men's golf team took 10^th place at the Cardinal Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of Louisville, at the Cardinal Club in Simpsonville, Ky.

The Racers finished 10th with scores of 294-296-307=897. Louisville was the winner at 860, with Mercer (866) and Austin Peay (869) finishing in second and third.

Jordan Smith had the best finish for the Racers with an eighth place showing with scores of 71-72-73=216. The next best score for Murray State was Preston French with scores of 72-72-80=224, which earned him a spot in 34^th place.

Other MSU scores included Jared Gosser who finished 41^st with scores of 74-75-77=226, while T.J. Ferry took 68^th place with rounds of 77-77-80=234 and Chasten Howard placed with scores of 81-77-77=235.

In individual play, Brock Simmons carded scores of 81-79-79=239 for 79^th place.

Western Carolina's J.T. Poston was the medalist with scores of 68-70-69=207.

Other top ten places included Furman (872), Cincinnati (873), Francis Marion (881), McNeese State (884), Eastern Kentucky (886) and UT Martin (892).

Finishing behind the Racers included Dayton, Western Kentucky and Western Carolina (898), Northern Kentucky (916) and Wright State (926).

The Cardinal Club course played to a par-72 and 7,036 yards.

The Racers return home to Miller Memorial Golf Course on Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 1-2) to host their annual fall event.
