The Murray State women's golf team wrapped up their stay at the Old Waverly Bulldog Invitational Monday in Starkville, Mississippi by improving to a ninth place finish.
The Racers carded scores of 309-301-306=916 to finish ahead of South Alabama (922), Mercer (924), Southern Mississippi (926) and Cincinnati (935).
Abbi Stamper paced the Racers with a 20th place finish on the strength of a 76-73-75=224 performance. Stamper was steady in the final round with 13 pars and two birdies.
Sydney Trimble had an eagle in her final 18 holes and finished the event in 34th place with scores of 77-78-73-228, while Jacklyn Van Meter had scores of 76-74-79=229 and a spot in 39th place. Moa Folke placed 58th after rounds of 81-76-82=239 and Sophie Hillier placed 64th rounds of 80-83-79=242.
Host Mississippi State was the winner at 858, with South Florida (882), Houston (885), Memphis (888) and FIU and Troy (891) making up the top-6. Iowa (903) and Samford (905) placed seventh and eighth ahead of the Racers in ninth place.
Mississippi State's Ally McDonald was the medalist with scores of 69-67-71=207.
Old Waverly played to a par of 72 and 6,229 yards for the 54-holes.
The event at Mississippi State marks the end of the fall portion of the 2014-15 season for the Racers. They will return in 2015 to play in the Bobby Nichols Invitational in Sevierville, Tennessee (March 16-17).
