Racers Fall at Morehead- Hosts OVC Tournament

The Murray State volleyball team suffered just its second conference loss and fifth overall loss of the regular season to Morehead State Saturday at Morehead, Kentucky. The Eagles topped MSU, 3-1 (25-21, 28-26,25-16, 25-22).
No matter what happened Saturday, The Racers are ready to host the Ohio Valley Conference Volleyball Tournament Nov. 20-22 at Racer Arena after taking the first conference title in program history.
In the match at Morehead, the Eagles took a 10-6 lead. Murray State fought back and tried to gain momentum, but could not get past the Eagles as they took the first set 25-21.
Just like the first set, the second set was close early before MSU took a 21-16 lead. Morehead State went on a 5-0 run to tie it and eventually won the set 28-26.
Murray State came out strong in the third set quickly taking a 7-3 lead and later led 18-10. The Racers continued to hold off the Eagles and took the third set 25-12.
Both teams came out strong in the fourth set. The score stayed close until the Eagles took a 16-13 lead and closed out the match 25-22.
Two Racers notched double-doubles in the loss. Scottie Ingram turned in 15 kills along with 11 digs, while Taylor Olden had 13 kills with 12 digs. Alyssa Lelm added 12 kills. Sam Bedard dished out 43 assists with seven digs and four kills. Ellie Lorenz had a match-high 17 digs to go with one assist. MSU was held to a..152 hitting clip against the Eagles.
The OVC Volleyball Tournament will begin Nov. 20 starting at 10am. The Racers will face the #8 seed at 3 p.m. at Racer Arena. A complete schedule of seeds and game times will be available on GoRacers.com and OVCsports.com later.
