Racers Tie for 9th in Grover Page Classic

RESULTS
The Murray State University men's golf team finished the final round of the Grover Page Classic hosted by UT Martin this afternoon at the Jackson Country Club. The Racers finished tied for ninth place in the field of 13 teams after rounds of 304-307-305=916.

Lipscomb was able to maintain its first place finish after firing rounds of 285-282-289=856 over OVC member Tennessee Tech who carded scores of 290-280-294=863. UTM finished in third place with scores of 297-287-287=871.

Jordan Smith tied for 27th place after carding rounds of 76-75-74=225 with freshman Matt Zakutney who had scores of 77-73-75=225. Preston French had scores of 74-78-75=227 for a spot in 35th place, while Jared Gosser fired rounds of 77-81-81=239 for 63rd place. Brock Simmons rounded out team play for the Racers with the spot in 76th place after rounds of 81-85-82=258.

In individual play, Daniel Harper fired rounds of 76-85-78=239 for 63rd place.

Other team scores include: Jackson (887), Southern Illinois (888), Northern Kentucky (896), Union (904), John A. Logan (906), Morehead (916), Trevecca Nazarene (921) and Tennessee State (932).

The field of 78 players took on the Jackson County Club that played to a par of 72 and 6,783 yards.
The Racers will join the women's golf team at the 2nd Annual Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate hosted by Tennessee Tech at the Sevierville Golf Club in Sevierville, Tenn. (March 17-18).
