Howson Makes Top-5 at Lady Eagle Invite

RESULTS
The Murray State University women's golf team finished the final round of the 20th annual Lady Eagle Invitational hosted by Southern Miss at the Hattiesburg Country Club. The Racers ended the day in fifth place in the field of 13 teams after firing rounds of 311-310=621.

Southern Miss was able to maintain their three-shot lead over Memphis (608 and 611 respectively). Southern Alabama was able to claim the third place spot with a score of 614.

Senior Delaney Howson led the Racers with a spot on the all-tournament team in fifth place with scores of 73-78=151. Howson is ranked nationally with the 42nd lowest average score (72.5) and is currently tied for 12th in lowest round (66) which is only three strokes behind the leader.
Sydney Trimble finished the round in 12th place after firing rounds of 78-76=154 while Jackie Van Meter and Sophie Hillier maintained their tie for 24th after both carded rounds of 80-78=158. Rounding out the team play for the Racers was freshman Minta Yin had rounds of 81-79=160 for 34th place.
In individual play, Abbi Stamper finished the day in 48th place after rounds of 82-81=163 while Gina Nuzzo fired rounds of 80-85=165 for 56th palce.
Other team scores included: Houston Baptist (617), ULM (625), Central Arkansas (627), UAB (642), Stephen F. Austin (645), Western Kentucky (645), New Orleans (646), Texas-Pan American (648) and Jackson State (708).
The Hattiesburg CC played 6,111 yards and to a par of 72.
The Racers will join the men's golf team at the 2nd Annual Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate hosted by Tennessee Tech at the Sevierville Golf Club in Sevierville, Tenn. (March 17-18)
