Gosser Shoots Low at FAU Invite

RESULTS I STATISTICS
The third and final round of the FAU Slomin Autism Invite came to a close Sunday morning at the Fountains Country Club in Lake Worth, Fl. At the end of the tournament, the Racers finished 11th in the field of 15 teams with a team scores of 309-298-293=900.
UCF took the top honor of the tournament with a team score of 839 and the medalist honor with Ricardo Gouveia firing rounds of 67-65-71=203. Georgia Southern claimed second place with a team score of 845 while Middle Tennessee ended the tournament 9-strokes behind in third.
Jared Gosser shot an impressive third round to give himself the Racer lead with scores of 78-74-68=220 to finish the tournament tied for 22nd place. His round of 68 is the third time he has hit his personal round low since coming to Murray State. He previously carded back-to-back first round scores of 68 in the first rounds of both the Murray State Invitational and the Skyhawk Classic in the fall.
Matt Zakutney came in second place for the Racers carding scores of 75-73-75=223 for 36th place. Jordan Smith fired rounds of 76-75-75=226 for 46th place while Preston French had scores of 80-76-79=235. Rounding out team play for the Racers was Duncan McCormick with scores of 84-80-75=239.
Other team scores include: DePaul (863), Jacksonville (871), Hartford (880), Florida Gulf Coast (881), Florida Atlantic (885), Connecticut (889), Bethune-Cookman Col. (890), Stetson (901), Morehead State (939), Florida Atlantic B (946) and Lafayette College (965).
The North Course of the Fountains Country Club played to a par of 71 and 6876 yards. The slope of the course was 135 and the rating was 72.8.
The Racers will play enjoy a long break before competing in the 2014 TSU Men's Big Blue Intercollegiate in Nashville, Tenn., at the President's Reserve at Thermitage Golf Course (April 14-15).
