Football Completes 2014 Schedule

Non-conference road games at Louisville and Western Michigan, along with an eight-game Ohio Valley Conference season highlight the 2014 Murray State football schedule released Tuesday.
"We are going to be tested in our non-conference schedule with two FBS games," said head coach Chris Hatcher. "The OVC has improved every year, and looking through the schedule, there are no easy games. We will have to play well early in the conference season to set us up for the tough stretch at Eastern Illinois and Eastern Kentucky in November."
The Racers will open the season on Thursday, Aug. 28, when they welcome Union College to Stewart Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and will be Senior Day.
MSU hits the road for the first time on Sept. 6 when they travel to Louisville. The meeting will be the second between the two schools in the last four years.
After an open week, the Racers will travel to face Western Michigan on Sept. 20. This will be the first meeting between the two programs, and third matchup against a team from the MAC in the last five seasons.
The Racers open OVC action against Jacksonville State on Sept. 27. It is Family Weekend at MSU, with kickoff set for 6 p.m.
The month of October opens with a road game at Tennessee Tech (Oct. ), before hosting Southeast Missouri for Homecoming on Oct. 11 at 3 p.m.
After an Oct. 18 game at Austin Peay, the Racers will play their final non-conference game of the season against Kentucky Wesleyan on Oct. 25 at 3 p.m. The Racers and Panthers have met twice prior, with the most recent game being played in 2009.
The Racers open November with a home game against UT Martin on Nov. 1. MSU then hits the road for back-to-back road games defending champion Eastern Illinois (Nov. 8) and Eastern Kentucky (Nov. 15). The Racers close out the regular season against Tennessee State at home on Nov. 22.
The FCS Playoffs are set to begin on Nov. 29.
