Hillier & Racers Produce Solid Play At Cardinal Cup

The Murray State women's golf team came home with a 10th place finish at the Cardinal Cup, hosted at the University of Louisville Golf Course in Simpsonville, Kentucky.
Playing in their second fall event, the Racers had scores of 311-309-309=929 to place 10th, six shots behind ninth place Ball State and seven shots ahead of 11th place Northern Illinois.
Moa Folke and Sophie Hiller led the Racers with a pair of 35th place finishes in the field of 100 competitors. Hiller played a solid final round of 75 that featured 12 pars and a birdie for her fourth career 75, one off her best as a Racer. Hiller carded scores of 79-77-75=231. Folke scored the Racers' only eagle in the 54-hole event and finished with a 77. Her line was 78-76-77=231. MSU's Sydney Trimble placed 47th with rounds of 78-78-78=234, while Jacklyn Van Meter placed 53rd after rounds of 79-78-79=236. Abbi Stamper carded scores of 76-81-80=237 to place 59th.
Minta Yin played the Cardinal Cup as an individual for the Racers and placed seventh among the field of 16 solo players. Her 67th place overall finish featured scores of 75-81-85=241.
The Racers ranked fifth in the field of 17 teams with 25 total birdies. Yin and Hillier each posted a 75, the Racers' low rounds. Folke made MSU's only eagle by making a three on the par-5 9th hole.
There were only three eagles total among the 17 teams.
The UL Golf Club played to a length of 6,223 yards and par-72.
The Racers' next event is the Cincinnati Invitational (Oct. 6-7) at TPC River's Bend in Maineville, Ohio
