Long snapper Wes Drewery has signed with Murray State for the 2015 season, head coach Mitch Stewart announced on Tuesday. Drewery is transferring to Murray State after spending his last season at UAB, which cut its football program in November.
"A great long snapper is the gateway to great defensive and special team units," said Stewart. "We believe that Wes will serve as a solid foundation for us, one upon which we can build both.
Originally from Franklin, Tennessee, Drewery is a 6-3, 230-pound, redshirt freshman who prepped at Centennial High School. In 2013, he was named to the 11-AAA All-District team, on top of being named as the district's offensive lineman of the year.
Drewery joins defensive end Colin Frickey, safety Toby Omli, and offensive lineman Ben Luper, who signed in late 2014, as the first four members of MSU's 2015 recruiting class.
