Racer Cross Country Competes at NCAA Regionals
11/13/2015 2:43:00 PM | Men's Cross Country, Women's Cross Country
The Murray State men's and women's cross country teams competed Friday at the 2015 NCAA Southeast Regional in Earlysville, Virginia, the final event of the season for both teams. Brittany Bohn turned in the best regional performance by a Racer in four years, finishing the 6K course in 22:34. For the men, Lucas Prather led the way, completing the 10K course in 32:20. The women finished the day 22nd out of 33 teams, while the men were 27 of 32.
Head coach Jenny Swieton could not have been happier with the results of both teams, as it was the best finish by the women's team in four years with all seven runners finishing higher than MSU's No. 4 runner a year ago. "All the student-athletes gave it everything they had. Lucas Prather and Cole Cisneros went out with a bang," said Swieton.
Meagan Smith followed Bohn for the Racers with a time of 23:01, while Caroline Grogan turned in a time of 23:18. Rebekah Priddy finished closely behind Grogan at 23:20, while Ali Heaster finished in the course in 23:59. Rounding out the Racers on Friday were Emily Flaherty and Emani Griffith, who finished with times of 24:29 and 24:54, respectively.
Mark Ventura finished closely behind Prather at 32:36, while Cole Cisneros ran the course in 32:59. Vince Turner followed Cisneros with a time of 33:37, while the final finishers for the Racers were Neil Yockey at 34:16 and Evan Staviski at 35:44.
