This Week
The Racers open a four-game slate this week with a trip to Indiana and a mid-week contest with Evansville at Braun Stadium. Evansville will travel to Murray later this season, April 12 in this home-and-home series. This will be the 25th season that the Racers and Purple Aces will play twice in a season.
Last Week
MSU was swept in OVC play this past weekend at SIU Edwardsville. The league-leading Cougars won game one 8-5, game two 8-7 in 10 innings and won the finale 11-4. Derek Yoder led the Racers hitting .417 (5-for-12) against the Cougars while Tyler Lawrence collected four RBIs. Evansville lost 2-of-3 at Ohio State over the weekend.
Scouting Evansville
The Purple Aces are led by Kevin Kaczmarski's .448 batting average in eight games played this season. Josh Jyawook is hitting .327 on the year and has started all but one game in 2015. Jyawook also has a team-high 12 RBIs. Jonathan Ramon leads the team with three home runs on the year.
Evansville doesn't rely much on the running game as they've recorded just three steals on 13 attempts this season. Three players have one stolen base each.
The UE pitching staff is led by Ryan Billo's 2.25 ERA in 16 innings pitched. Brodie Harkness leads the squad with 23.1 innings logged this season. Matthew Rodgers and Harkness both have two victories to lead the team while Patrick Schnieders leads the Purple Aces with two saves. Harkness also leads the squad with 17 strikeouts. Wes Carroll is in his seventh season as the Head Coach of the Purple Aces.
