The Murray State baseball team continues its OVC off week as the Racers travel to face Samford in a three-game series in Birmingham, Ala. This will be the first meeting between the two schools since 2008. The Racers have lost three consecutive games to the Bulldogs. MSU last won in Birmingham back in 2007 when it won 2-of-3 against SU.

For the second time this season, the MSU pitching staff recorded a team-high 15 strikeouts in its loss to Lindenwood-Belleville. The Racers also struck-out 15 batters March 24 against Arkansas State. The 15 punch-outs are the most in a game since 2012 when the Racers struck-out 20 batters in a 17-inning contest against Central Arkansas.

 In his last eight games, MSU infielder Nick Moore has drove-in 12 RBIs (team-high). During that span, Moore has recorded an RBI in seven of the eight games and has four multi-RBI games. Moore is second on the team with 21 ribbies this season.

The Bulldogs are led offensively by Austin Edens who is hitting .373 on the season, a mark that ranks seventh-best in the Southern Conference. Edens is one of five Bulldogs hitting .308 or better this season.
