Defense Wins The Day In Second Scrimmage

The Murray State football team returned to Stewart Stadium Saturday for the second scrimmage of preseason fall camp.
The defense got the better of the offense on the day according to head coach Mitch Stewart. St. Pierre Anilus and Shawn Samuels-Connell both had interceptions in the game, picking off quarterback KD Humphries.
Defensive lineman Elijah Daniel also had a good day, racking up a pair of hurries in the scrimmage. Samuels-Connell capped the defense's great scrimmage with a near 50-yard return on a missed field goal to end the game.
It wasn't all bad for the offense, as Humphries did have a couple of touchdown passes on the day. The biggest play for the offense on Saturday was when Humphries connected with Jesse Blackburn on a 70-yard plus touchdown pass.
Sunday, Coach Stewart welcomes the community to The Track for "Racers Meet Murray." The free event will give the team a chance to thank the community for its support and children will have the opportunity to take part in drills taught by the players and coaching staff.
The Racers will then officially close the book on fall camp next Saturday with their third and final scrimmage of the preseason.
