Women's Basketball Releases 2015-16 Schedule

Murray State women's basketball has announced its 2015-16 schedule, which features 13 home dates for the Racers at the CFSB Center.
The Racers open their campaign at home against Oakland City (Ind.) Nov. 13. Following a pair of road matchups at Alabama A&M (Nov. 15) and Illinois State (Nov. 18), MSU returns home for its first of two contests during the season against Central Arkansas Nov. 21. The Racers face UCA in Conway, Ark., Nov. 28, with a road contest at Lipscomb in between on the 24th.
"We are excited about having put together a very challenging non-conference schedule for this coming season," said Head Coach Rob Cross.
"The schedule is designed to help prepare our team for conference play by facing tough road tests and quality teams at home. Opening at home against a tough Oakland City team before hitting the road against regional rivals in Alabama A&M and Illinois State should give us a real test to start the season."
Murray State plays a pair of games at the CFSB Center in December, as the Racers host Southern Illinois Dec. 2 and Blue Mountain (Miss.) Dec. 14. MSU will travel to Evansville Dec. 5 and has a pair of matchups in the state of Florida on the 17th and 19th against Jacksonville and Florida State, respectively. The matchup with the Seminoles will be the first between the two programs since MSU's last OVC Championship season in 2008-09. FSU returns a pair of All-Americans from last season's Elite Eight squad in Adut Bulgak and Leticia Romero. MSU closes 2015 with a home exhibition against Lindenwood-Belleville Dec. 30.
"The schedule is highlighted by regional rivalries including Lipscomb and Evansville on the road, along with Southern Illinois coming to the CFSB Center on Dec. 2nd," said Cross.
"A trip to Florida to face an aggressive Jacksonville team before heading to Tallahassee to play one of the best teams in the nation will certainly be a great challenge for our team as we head into Christmas break."
The New Year begins with three consecutive home games for the Racers, as they open their OVC schedule by hosting Morehead State Jan. 2. Tennessee Tech and Jacksonville State come to town Jan. 7 and 9, respectively. MSU will then play three straight road contests at Belmont (Jan. 14), Tennessee State (Jan. 16) and Eastern Kentucky (Jan. 20). Jan. 23 and 27 the Racers host SIU Edwardsville and Eastern Illinois, respectively, before ending the month on the road against UT Martin Jan. 30.
The Racers alternate home and away games during the first part of February, beginning at SEMO (Feb. 3) before returning to Murray Feb. 6 against Austin Peay. Feb. 10 the Racers travel to SIU Edwardsville and host SEMO Feb. 13. Feb. 17 and 20 features back-to-back road games against EIU and Austin Peay, respectively, before ending the regular season at home against UT Martin Feb. 27.
The OVC Tournament will be held March 2-5 at Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, Tenn.
