Murray State Shutout in Knoxville

The Murray State women's soccer squad suffered its second loss of the season in a 3-0 defeat Sunday evening to the Tennessee Volunteers at Regal Soccer Stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee.
After beating Mississippi State (Aug. 23) for their first win over a team from the Southeastern Conference, the Racers fell to UT and to 2-2 on the season. All four matches this season have been on the road for the Racers.
The Racers had a quiet first half as they managed six shots and two shots on goal.

The Vols scored in the 13th minute off a penalty kick. Carlyn Baldwin took a shot after an aggressive pass from Susan Ferguson to score the goal.
The Vols held the lead 1-0 at the half.
In the second half, Tennessee scored in the 56th minute. Amy Neal found Anna Biaczak to put the Vols up 2-0.
The last goal scored by the Vols (3-0-3) came in the 71st minute from Anna McClung.
Harriet Withers led MSU in shot attempts with three, while Taylor Stevens and Marissa Burroughs had two.
This is the first time the Racers have been shut out this season.

Shelby Haworth worked all 90 minutes in goal for the Racers and she made two saves.
After playing a tough four-game stretch away from home to start the season, the Racers are ready to play in front of the home fans. MSU will take to the pitch at Cutchin Field Friday (Sep. 11) against Louisiana Tech. The 3 p.m. start will be streamed live on OVCDigitaNetwork.com and live stats will be available on GoRacers.com.
