Humphries’ Big Game Leads To OVC Weekly Honor

Senior KD Humphries of the Murray State football team was named as the adidas® OVC Football Offensive Player of the Week for his record performance against Austin Peay Saturday, the league announced Sunday.
The Montgomery, Alabama native passed for five touchdowns and rushed for another in Saturday's 45-17 win at Austin Peay, finishing the night at 49-for-60 for 455 yards. He connected with 11 different receivers in the contest and broke his own school and OVC record for completions in a single-game, which was 48 against Tennessee Tech in 2014. His 49 completions are the most by a FCS quarterback this season and he is currently the only FCS quarterback this season throw for at least 450 yards, pass for at least five touchdowns and complete at least 40 passes in the same game.
With his performance Saturday, Humphries is now second in Murray State history in all four major passing categories: yards, attempts, completions and touchdowns. He is currently on or near pace to break all four by season's end, all four of which are currently held by current MSU wide receivers coach Casey Brockman.
The game against Austin Peay vaulted Humphries into the top 10 nationally of five separate statistical categories. He is currently first in completions per game (31.3), third in completion percentage (70.6), third in passing yards per game (329.3), fifth in total offense (322.0) and 10th in passing yards at (1,317.)
Earlier Sunday, Humphries was also named as the OVC Offensive Player of the Week by College Sports Madness.
Humphries and teammates will now take a week to rest before returning to action Saturday, October 15 when rival UT Martin makes the short trip to Roy Stewart Stadium. The game is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. and will be broadcast live on the OVC Digital Network.
