The Murray State volleyball team was able to use a balanced offensive attack and hit .304 overall as a team as the Racers cruised their way to their eighth consecutive victory on Saturday as MSU swept UT Martin on the road, 25-20, 25-19 and 25-15.
Scottie Ingram led the Racers (16-8, 11-1 OVC) on the attack with 14 kills while hitting .300 in the sweep. Kristen Besselsen added 12 kills in the win and Dacia Brown had seven of her own. Meanwhile, Kamille Jones and Audrey Lewis each had five kills apiece with Lewis hitting a match-high .625.
Setter Hannah Stultz was the fulcrum of the attack on the day as she recorded 32 assists on the day while Courtney Radle had five assists at the end of the match in relief. Defensively in the back row, it was another big day for Ellie Lorenz as she notched 22 digs on the day. Ingram and Stultz also added seven digs on the day.
The Skyhawks (7-20, 3-9 OVC) hit just .121 on the day but did have a 7-1 edge in total team blocks as Brown and Jones were the only two to record blocks for MSU. The Racers did have a slight advantage in the serving department with a 5-4 edge in service aces.
MSU looks to finish its five-match road trip with a perfect 5-0 mark and looks to extend its winning streak on Wednesday as the Racers travel to Austin Peay for a huge showdown with the Governors.
