French Takes Runner-Up At Grover Page Classic

Murray State's Preston French placed second at the Grover Page Classic one shot off the lead at Jackson Country Club in Jackson, Tennessee.
He began the final round a shot off the pace of Arkansas State's Andrew Huseman and he finished that way. French scored rounds of 65-75-68=208 while Huseman carded rounds of 69-70-68=207 for the win.
French has played 124 career rounds for the Racers and his 7-under-par 65 in Monday's first round was his career-best.
The Racers came home with a fifth place finish in the field of 12 teams. MSU had team scores of 282-299-292=873 and finished a shot behind fourth place Tennessee Tech at 782.
Other Murray State finishes included Brock Simmons and Duncan McCormick sharing 31st place. Simmons had rounds of 72-75-74=221 and McCormick turned in scores of 72-74-75=221. Jared Gosser placed 38th with scores of 73-75-76=224 and Gabe Wheeler placed 46th with rounds of 79-75-75=229.
Matthew Kakutney competed for the Racers as an individual and placed 22nd with scores of 72-72-75=219.
Arkansas State was the team winner with a score of 846, with Southern Illinois (856) in second place and host UT Martin (861) in third place. After the Racers and TTU, the sixth place squad was Nicholls State at 876. The rest of the field was made up by New Orleans (886), Samford (888), Tennessee State (908), Union (TN) (915), John A. Logan (915), and Jackson State (929).
A field of 73 competitors battled the Jackson Country Club course that played to a par of 72 and 6,776 yards.
Next up for the Racers is the Bobby Nichols Invitational (March 21-22). Hosted by Tennessee Tech, the event is played at the Sevierville Golf Club in Sevierville, Tennessee.
