Five More Join Football For 2016

Head coach Mitch Stewart announced Monday the signing of five additional student-athletes to his 2016 recruiting class. Monday's announcement included four junior college transfers and one high-school signee with three defensive players, an offensive player and a specialist.
Isaiah Foster · S · 6-2 · 175 · Pacoima, Calif./Kennedy HS/College of the Canyons
Foster is coming off a tremendous sophomore season for Canyons in which he earned first-team All-Southern California Football Association honors. He racked up 54 tackles for the Cougars in 2015, including 29 solo. Foster also added 0.5 sacks, 1.5 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and two interceptions.
Rangel Lowry · OL · 6-3 · 305 · Brentwood, Calif./Freedom HS/ Diablo Valley College
Lowry played on an offensive line that helped the Diablo Valley average 31.1 points per game last season. The Vikings averaged 465.2 yards per game during Lowry's freshman campaign, with the offensive line playing a huge part in the success. He will fit right into the Racers offensive system as a pass blocker, as Diablo Valley averaged 348.3 yards per game in the air in 2015.
James Sappington · K · 6-5 · 220 · Peculiar, Mo./Raymore-Peculiar HS
Sappington was a Class 6A first-team All-State selection by the Missouri Football Coaches Association last season and also earned first-team All-Conference honors from the Suburban Big 6. He was 25-for-29 in 2015 in extra-point attempts and 11-for-17 in field goals. He had a long of 49 on the year and kicked a 41-yarder in double overtime to beat rival Lee's Summit. Sappington also averaged 60.4 yards per kickoff in 43 opportunities and 36.5 yards on 42 punts with a long of 68 and 18 being downed inside the 20-yard line.
Troy Quinn · DE · 6-1 · 245 · Prattville, Ala./Harrison Central HS/New Mexico Military
Quinn will look to build off of a solid sophomore season at NMMI in 2015, one in which he earned first-team All-Western States Football league honors. He finished the season with 29 tackles, 10 of which went down as solo. He also led the Broncos with 11.0 sacks on the year, which ranked him 11th in all of the NJCAA. In addition, Quinn added 4.5 tackles-for-loss, a forced fumble and an interception.
Sean Rodriguez · LB · 6-0 · 210 · Nickerson, Kan./Nickerson HS/Butler CC
A KJCCC All-Conference honorable mention selection in 2015, Rodriguez comes to Murray State after two years at Butler CC. Rodriguez racked up the second most tackles by a Grizzly last season with 98, 37 of which were solo. He also had one sack and 5.5 tackles-for-loss on the season, as well as an interception, a blocked kick and a team-high six pass breakups.
