Folke Takes Weaver Title - Racers Finish Runner-Up

Moa Folke scored her first victory as a Murray State Racer Saturday when she claimed medalist honors at the Jan Weaver Invitational at Miller Memorial Golf Course in Murray, Ky.
Folke lead wire-to-wire in the 54-hole event and scored a two shot win with rounds of 75-76-72=223. Morehead State's Katie Rice placed second behind Folke with scores of 78-75-72=225.
As a team, the Racers couldn't hold a five-shot lead in the final 18 holes and finished second behind Morehead State. The Racers had scores of 309-310-319=938, while the Eagles posted scores of 312-312-311=935.
Other Murray State scores included Sydney Trimble with a spot in 19th place with rounds of 79-78-81=238 and Anna Moore in 23rd place after scores of 76-80-84=240. Jacklyn Van Meter placed 32nd with scores of 88-76-82=246 and Abbi Stamper was 40th with scores of 79-86-84=249.
The Racers have three individuals in the event including Sophie Hillier in 24th place with scores of 84-79-78=241 and Jane Watts with scores of 77-84-90=251 in 45th place. Nadine Innes placed 50th with scores of 91-81-81=253.
Xavier (944), Southern Illinois and Austin Peay (952) rounded out the top-5.
The rest of the field included Tennessee Tech (963), Akron (964), Fairleigh Dickinson (969), Alabama State (976), Omaha (1018) and Tennessee State (1064).
The medalist win for Moa Folke is the 40th under Coach Velvet Milkman who is in her 22nd season leading the Racers.
The Weaver Invitational finish marks the final event before the Ohio Valley Conference Championship. The 54-hole three-day event goes back to Hampton Cove Golf Club in Owens Crossing, Alabama. The OVC Championship was held there for the first time in 2015. The Racers have won nine OVC titles and will be looking for their first since 2014.
