Racers Help Build Paducah Playground

Murray State Athletics was part of the many volunteers who helped the Paducah Rotary Club build a playground on June 23. The Racers were one of many groups from the area that pitched in to help build the playground that will be enjoyed by children for years to come.

The new playground is located at 13th Street and Martin Luther King Drive in Paducah, Kentucky.Â

The trip was planned by Steve Harrell, MSU's associate AD for external affairs and MSU staff that participated included a pair of head coaches, Mitch Stewart (football) and Velvet Milkman (women's golf) and assistant coaches Adam Kiesler (women's track & field) and Matt Lodge (women's soccer). Brock Rydecki (facilities & game management) and Meagan Short (assistant AD-academics) also participated as did Kim Cooper and Susan Darnell (CFSB Center tickets). Amy Wyatt and Seth McFall (marketing & promotion) also participated.

- Groups worked in four-hour shifts
- The playground is 4,000 square feet
- Construction began June 20, 2016
- The construction cost is $200,000
