OVC Release
A day after 139 Murray State student-athletes were honored by the Ohio Valley Conference as Commissioner's Honor Roll selections, the OVC named 23 Racers to its 2015-16 Academic Medal of Honor list. There were 245 total honorees across the OVC.
Â
The MSU softball team had five selections, while and track & field and rifle had four each. Heatherly Paschall earned a spot in both cross country and track & field.
Â
The OVC Academic Medal of Honor goes to student-athletes who post the highest grade point average in their sport among OVC member institutions. The OVC confirms that every recipient for the 2015-16 academic year had a perfect 4.0 grade point average.
Â
OVC schools proudly produced 245 recipients, which bests the previous record of 212 from 2012-13.
Â
Yesterday the OVC announced a record 1,335 student-athletes who earned a spot on the OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll for carrying a 3.25 grade point average or higher last academic year.
Â
The League will announce the winner of the Academic Achievement Award and Team Academic Achievement Awards on Friday.
