Racer Athletics Looking For Student Help For 2016-17

The Murray State athletic department is currently looking for students to assist in a variety of areas for the 2016-17 season. Intercollegiate athletics is more than just the games played, it takes a large group of people from several departments working tirelessly together behind-the-scenes to put on the finished product that fans see when they attend a game. If you are a current Murray State student interested in a career in college athletics, check the list below and find an area than interests you. The look of the Murray State football team doesn't just happen, its put together and managed by the equipment staff. They handle all aspect of football uniforms and equipment worn by players. They play a key role in setting up practice and making sure all equipment needed is ready and functioning. The equipment staff is also responsible for the transportation of all necessary items to road games as well.Â

Video is the number one tool football coaches use to make their players better and it all happens thanks to the video staff. The football video staff is charged with filming all practices and game, using industry-specific software and putting together highlight packages.Â

The game operations staff are the some of the first ones in and last ones out, as they are responsible for set-up and take down of all MSU home events. Game ops is also in charge of the management of the events which includes coordinating with officials and the visiting team, managing concessions at various venues, troubleshooting and facility or game operations issues throughout the game and more.

Music and promotions have become a major part of the fan experience in sports. Today's game day atmosphere only happens because of the work of the marketing department. Marketing helps put together all MSU athletic promotions, whether in-game, print or media, and turns the game into an experience with the addition of music, contests, giveaways and more.Â

With nearly every baseball, basketball, football, soccer, softball and volleyball home event streamed over the internet, it takes a determined group of people to put each broadcast on the air. With jobs including camera operation, graphics and on-air play-by-play, the OVCDN crew at Murray State utilizes people from varying backgrounds to tell the story of Racer athletics to the world.

GoRacers.com is the MSU athletic department's number one promotional tool and it is run by staff of people that write stories, maintain rosters and schedules and manage the site's archives. In addition, the media relations staff is in charge of inputting and maintaining statistics for all MSU sports and serves as the liaison between the athletic department and local and national media.

Murray State student-athletes can compete at a high level because of the work of the strength and conditioning staff. The strength staff handles all aspects of physical fitness for Racer student-athletes. Their duties include building team-specific workouts, making nutrition plans and managing the general health of student-athletes.
