Racers Place Second At Drake Creek Invitational

Final Results
Murray State women's golf placed second at the Drake Creek Invitational in Ledbetter, Kentucky.

The MSU gold team, led by Lucila Puente's fourth-place showing, came home with a runner-up finish behind champion Western Kentucky. The Racers' gold team posted scores of 299-303-300=902 and finished behind the 886 that WKU posted.

A freshman, Lucila Puente Rodriguez de Austria carded scores of 76-72-71=219 and placed fourth, only two shots off of winner Mary Joiner of WKU who had scores of 71-75-71=217.

Other MSU gold team finishes included Jane Watts in seventh place with scores of 72-74-76=222. Watts held the 36-hole lead as the final 18 began. Raesha Surendran placed 10th with scores of 75-76-74=225, while Leah Rose Judd had scores of 77-82-79=238 for a spot in 44th place. Nadine Innes placed 48th with scores of 80-81-84=245.

The MSU blue team placed third in the event with scores of 309-305-294=908. Sydney Trimble led the way with a spot in seventh place after scores of 81-70-71=222, while Anna Moore placed 15th on rounds of 77-75-77=229. Moa Folke placed 22nd on scores of 78-84-70=232, while Linette Holmslykke was in 31st place with rounds of 78-80-76=234. Earlena Sheet had scores of 76-80-86=242 and had a spot in 46th place.

Akron had a share of third place at 908, with Southern Illinois (911) and Austin Peay (915) making up the top-6. Belmont (925) placed seventh, while Lipscomb (944) finished eighth.

The Racers' next test of the Chris banister Classic hosted by Jacksonville State (Sept. 26-27) at Silver Lakes Golf Club in Glencoe, Alabama.
