Racer SAAC Elects 2016-17 Officers

The Murray State Student Athlete Advisory Council elected its officers for the 2016-17 school year.
Â
Taylor Adcock, from the MSU track & field program was elected president, while Chleo LeGrand, also of track & field was elected vice president. Alathea Sellars of the MSU Rifle team was named secretary.

Additionally LeGrand, MSU Baseball's Kipp Moore was named as the Racers' representatives to Ohio Valley Conference SAAC. Dondre Griffin, of men's basketball was named alternate.

SAAC works closely with MSU Director of Athletics Allen Ward especially in matters of the student-athlete experience.

"SAAC is a very important advisory group for an AD," Ward said. "After all, their well-being and success is my top priority so their feedback is welcome and encouraged. I intend to engage these young men and women throughout the year on a number of topics that affect Division I intercollegiate athletics."

"I look forward to working with Taylor and the entire SAAC executive committee," he added. "They'll do an outstanding job and will be a tremendous asset to me, their fellow student-athletes, and the athletics program. I appreciate their willingness to serve in this very important leadership position."

"We are all looking forward to working with Mr. Ward and see what this school year brings for SAAC and Murray State Athletics," Adcock said. "I think that we have a strong group serving as our executive committee and we're honored to serve our fellow student-athletes."

The goal of SAAC is to foster a positive athletic and academic experience for student-athletes by promoting a healthy lifestyle, open communication between student-athletes and the university community, and increased support among their peers. The SAAC committee provides thoughtful and constructive feedback and advice to the Director of Athletics pertaining to matters relating to intercollegiate athletics and Murray State University.
There are 33 student-athletes representing  Murray State SAAC in the 2016-17 school year from every Racer team. Â
