Murray State women's basketball center Kyra Gulledge has returned to MSU to finish her final year of eligibility. Gulledge, who graduated in May, had another year of eligibility remaining after last season and has decided to return to the Racers for the 2016-17 season.
Gulledge, who was second in the OVC in rebounding last season with 8.4 boards per contest, was third on the team in scoring, averaging 7.4 points per game and shot 54 percent from the field, which ranked third in the league. Gulledge had 11 games with double-digit rebounds, including a 21-rebound effort against Tennessee Tech, the sixth-most in a single game in program history.
"We are excited that Kyra Gulledge is coming back for a final year of competition with the program," said coach Cross.
"As the second-leading rebounder in the OVC, the return of Kyra means that we have an experienced presence in the paint and a fantastic person to help lead our team. Her return also gives us all five starters back from a team that advanced to the semifinals of the OVC Tournament last season."
Gulledge and the rest of the Racers open the season November 11 at the CFSB Center against Eureka College.
