Racers Take Second Place At Skyhawk Classic

Final Results
The Murray State men's golf team came home with a second place showing at the Skyhawk Classic at Paris Landing State Park Golf Course in Buchanan, Tennessee.

Starting the day two shots off the lead, the Racers carded a final round 296 and finished with an 875 total, behind winner UT Martin at 860. John A. Logan (880), Lindsey Wilson (890), Tennessee State and Incarnate Word (894) made up the rest of the top-6 teams.

Murray State's Avery Edwards earned a spot on the All-Tournament team with a solid third place finish after a 3-under-par total off scores of 69-71-73=213. Connor Coombs and Lance Davis shared 17th place. Coombs had rounds of 74-72-76=222, while Davis posted 78-74-70=222. For Davis, the final round 2-under-par 70 was his career low round at Murray State in relation to par. Other Murray State scores and finishes included Gabe Wheeler in 21st place on scores of 72-73-78=223 and Austin Knight in 24th place on rounds of 75-73-77=225.

Justin Wendling led four Racers that played the event as individuals. Wendling placed 34th on scores of 74-79-77=230, while Quinn Eaton was 52nd on rounds of 76-82-77=235. Cole Manion placed 56th after scores of 78-81-78=237, while Rhett Cardwell had scores of 87=80-76=243 and placed 65th.

The field of 75 players played Paris Landing at par-72 and 6,685 yards.

The Racers have two events remaining in the fall season. They play the APSU Intercollegiate (Oct. 16-17) at Greystone Golf Course in Dickson, Tenn. and the Samford Intercollegiate (Oct. 23-24) at Greystone Golf & Country Club in Birmingham, Alabama.
