Rifle In Fourth After Day One Of NCAA

The Murray State rifle team shot a 2326 in smallbore to finish the first day of the 2017 NCAA Championships in fourth place at French Field House on Columbus, Ohio.
Robert Broadstreet and Ivan Roe each fired a 583 on the day, while Ben Estes, MacKenzie Martin and Barbara Schläpfer followed at 580 each. After qualifying for the individual finals based on center shots, Broadstreet went on to finish the finals in a tie for seventh.
West Virginia won the smallbore title Friday with a 2336, while TCU and Kentucky followed at 2334 and 2331, respectively. The Mountaineers' Morgan Phillips claimed the smallbore individual title, while teammate and Olympic gold medalist Ginny Thrasher finished second in the individual finals.
On Saturday, the Racers will conclude the 2017 NCAA Championships by shooting the air rifle portion of the event.
